The Isle of Man is a small country off the west coast of England. It is not well adapted to seriously challenged travelers, it is easily handled if you have some mobility. Far less commercial than most sites in Europe, it is attractive for someone looking for something “different”
and off the beaten path.
The Manx Parliament dates back to the Viking settlements which began in the eighth century AD. No other parliament in the world has such a long unbroken record.
For those interested in the past way of life on the island, travel up to Cregneash and visit the village locked in time. Where the people live in thatched cottages, speak the native Manx language, and practice local trades and crafts.
Do take a moment and check this site. You may be pleasantly surprised. |

The tiny Isle of Man boasts of having the largest working water wheel in the world. While it doesn’t sound exciting, the wheel, used to pump water out of a working mineral mine, is located in a delightful area that makes for a very pleasant side trip. Travelers with limited mobility will not be able to go into the mine itself, but there are plenty of other
activities to make this worthwhile. |
