Photo: On holiday in Ireland, 1984, we began in Dublin in the east and drove across to the west coast. Somewhere along the way. we passed this old man who had been out cutting sod to burn for heat in the winter. Don't remember now whether he or the donkey pulling the cart looked more forlorn.
